3 seriously fun afternoon workshops this fall…
asana, meditation, lecture & discussion
Perfection. Imperfection. What do these words make you think of?
Themes of perfection and imperfection pop up frequently in the world of yoga at large and in our own practice. But what do the words really mean?
There is a long history of inquiry into the nature of perfection and imperfection in the yoga traditions. This fall we are going to have some serious fun investigating a few of the arguments and insights that yogis have shared over millennia.
Intrigued? Then join me for one, two or three of the Yoga of perfection and imperfection workshops with me fall. (Check out the individual descriptions below.)
The workshops will include lecture, discussion, deep asana practice (at least 90 min), and meditation – all with the intention of opening our eyes to new understanding, refining our vision and grounding the teachings at the embodied level.
Register for 1, 2 or 3 of these events. See individual descriptions below.

The Yoga of Perfection and Imperfection #1
Sunday, Sept. 9 2:30-5:45 pm
The story of the Bhagavad Gita opens on a great battlefield, with the warrior Arjuna facing a dramatic, disturbing and frankly impossible life situation.
The ensuing conversation between Arjuna and his charioteer, Krishna, revolves around the question of how to act with integrity in an imperfect world. This has become one of the most revered dialogues in the history of sacred literature on this planet, and will serve as our starting point and inspiration for the first Yoga of Perfection and Imperfection investigation.
Early bird registration date: Tues Sept. 4. $55 + tax ($63.24) Regular rate: $65 +tax ($74.73)
Payable via e-transfer, cheque or cash. CONTACT ME to reserve your place or for questions.
The Yoga of Perfection and Imperfection #2
Sunday, Oct. 14, 2:30-5:45 pm
A revisiting of the Bhagavad Gita, but this time we zoom in on two of the most intriguing verses (my favorites), which appear in Chapters 3 and 18 of the text.
The verses challenge us to look at how we lead our lives, and speak directly to preconceived ideas we might have of what it means to truly accomplish something.
I have always considered theses sections of the Gita to be exceptional teachers in their own right. They have the power to naturally, sweetly trick the mind into deep, reflective thought. I am looking forward to hearing the group wisdom that arises from our discussion and practices.
Early bird registration date: Monday Oct. 8. $55 + tax ($63.24) Regular rate: $65 +tax ($74.73)
Payable via e-transfer, cheque or cash. CONTACT ME to reserve your space or for questions.
The Yoga of Perfection & Imperfection #3
Saturday, Nov. 17 2:30-5:45 pm
It’s November, a month when the colour seems to drain from the outer landscape. It’s time we take a leap into different territory. Inspiration for our practices will come from teachings of the non-dual shaivite (Trika) tradition.
Supreme Consciousness, by its nature full, unbroken, perfect, does something that seems impossible: it creates out of itself the polarity of perfection and imperfection. In this final of our 3 workshops, we will examine this miracle of which we are a part, and begin to identify the divine hand at play in perfection and in imperfection.
Early bird registration date: Monday Nov. 12 $55 + tax ($63.24) Regular rate: $65 +tax ($74.73)
Payable via e-transfer, cheque or cash. CONTACT ME to reserve your place or for questions.
